Ethan picked out our Christmas tree tonight, an 8-foot Frasier fir that is slender enough to actually fit in the sunroom!
I am hoping the smell of the tree is going to kill the scent of burned popcorn that is wafting throughout the house today (I nearly set the microwave on fire in 3 short minutes!). And I actually really dislike the smell of popcorn...really. Tomorrow is decorating day, and I promised Ethan we'd watch "A Charlie Brown Christmas," sing songs, and drink hot chocolate while we do the tree. I hope Chris gets everything out of the attic by morning!

Happy Thanksgiving! We had a great day at the Willinghams--Dee and Tommy are always kind to include us as part of the family. We enjoyed being with everyone and seeing all the kids together was a treat. No cooking, no cleaning, a care package to take home, and great company. What could be better? As Ethan said, Thanksgiving means "being thankful to God for all the things he's given us, like peace and family, and love." Good stuff.

Mother's Day 2007

Today I enjoyed "Muffins with Mom" at Ethan's preschool, which included the unveiling of this master work--my portrait. E tells me he chose a yellow dress for me because he thought it would look pretty (perhaps he's been reading the fashion buzz this spring), and he chose blue shoes. When describing my face, rather than saying, "this is your mouth," he told me he drew my lipstick. Does this kid know me, or what? On top of that, Miss Jennifer told me he had her remix the paint for my skin several times (that's too dark, no...that's too light)! Now he knows how I feel at the makeup counter!

Chris redeemed himself from last year, and I was duly honored. I even got a nap! In typical Chris fashion--all or nothing--I was also surprised with manicure & pedicure gift certificates, tulips (my favorite), and a beautiful dress. It was a nice weekend.

By the way, the PJs around E's neck? That's a Superman cape.
