The Friends of Liberty mission is to present Libertarian ideas to Greater Clevelanders so they may encounter, evaluate and when appropriate embrace the ideas of self-government. We are non-political, though we discuss politics and are always looking for new ways to bring Libertarian concepts to Greater Cleveland.

Vote No on Issue 1 to insure Ohio judges don't have the same unconstitutional power of denying bond to someone accused of a crime.
A mild Yes on Issue 2 would reduce some limits on workers compensation laws.
Edelstein was standing on the sidewalk in front of his apartment in Salida City, Colorado saying goodbye to some friends when he received a ticket on June 11. The ticket charges that Mr. Edelstein "stayed in an area of less than two hundred feet for more than five minutes."
An article by Joseph Farah, director of the Western Journalism Center of Sacramento, CA, points out that in 1996 alone, at least 2,439 new federal agents were authorized to carry firearms. This brings the total up to nearly 60,000. Farah points out that these increases were not only in agencies like the FBI, but include the EPA, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife department, and the Army Corps of Engineers.
A veteran reporter for National Public Radio, who says he was engaged in lawful newsgathering activities, was indicted in late August by a federal grand jury for allegedly receiving and sending child pornography through the Internet, Jane Kirtley, Executive Director of the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press (RCFP) said.
The Federal government is so determined to stamp out unapproved sexual activity that it's spending $50 million to teach young Americans the joy of sexual abstinence. According to the Department of Health and Human Services, all 50 states will get federal money for the abstinence program -- ranging from $69,000 for Vermont to $5.7 million for California. Even American territories are getting money: The Marshall Islands will receive $21,000; Micronesia will pocket $47,000; and the Virgin Islands will take home $147,000.
